Lymbyc Systym is one of those post-rock instrumental groups that I just can't believe I haven't heard in a movie trailer or car commercial yet. Their music is absolutely cinematic. Anyone who loves the Album Leaf should make sure to check this music out. In fact, I first heard Lymbyc Systym at an Album Leaf show. They opened for my "favorite instrumental" band, and nearly showed Album Leaf up! They're incredibly talented dudes, and while I know you'll enjoy their recorded material, make sure to catch them live if you can. The synths are as warm as they come, and drummers that can sound like this don't usually settle for that measly indie rock lifestyle, but, shoot... Lymbyc Systym can rock so tight. This new album (Love Your Abuser Remixed) features remixes by Album Leaf, Daedelus, This Will Destroy You, and more. Personally, I think the best tracks are actually the Lymbyc Systym remixes. But I hope some of you folks will enjoy this electronic chill-out pop. I'll go ahead and say that if you're a fan of Saxon Shore or the Six Parts Seven, you'll get into this. So now that Lynyrd Skynyrd isn't the only band that uses the letter "Y" for all of it's vowels (while also starting with an "L" and "S") in it's name, you can rest easy/age kindly. One doesn't really think of Arizona as the sort of place that would breed this kind of musical excellence (I guess they do have The Format over there.), but all of you Southwestern Americans should be proud of this band. - Relevant |
