As one part of Company Flow, my man Bigg Jus has always held a special place in my heart for contributing some of the more memorable rhymes on Funcrusher Plus. Although, once the group disbanded, Jus seemed unable to completely capitalize on their success and has continued to linger in the background without ever getting his proper due. Now on Mush records, he’s back with his latest album, Poor People’s Day, filled with richly textured beats and rapid-fire wordplay. Having continued to work on both his lyrical content (focusing heavily on various political themes) and his productions skills, the album is very reminiscent of some classic Co Flo type sh*t. Songs like “Supa Nigga” and “Orbital Mechanics” will having nodding with conviction and make you realize that El-P might just need someone like Big Jus to properly balance him out. - Rasputin |
