"Lovers" - the first single from Brothertiger’s Golden Years, is a slice of warm chillwave from Ohio native John Jagos and three remixing parters in crime. The original showcases emotive vocals over a driving, direct bass line and Eighties-inspired synth hooks that dance and whir. The song’s video, which exudes sexuality, is directed by Kiki Allgeier and stars two leotard-clad models draped with early MTV fashion and color schemes. It’s off-kilter retro vibe perfectly captures the mood of the track. Three remixers compliment the original with fine production work. Jessie Ruins washes the track in melodrama by adding large, dramatic keyboard tones that recall the sounds of early video stars like Thompson Twins and Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark. Japan's Avec Avec provides a mix that highlights synth-pop's R&B and funk underpinnings and mixes in elements of Japanese lounge and instrumental hip-hop. Rounding out the single is a version from Italy’s Casa Del Mirto that reduces the BPM to find a groovier, more sensual song song hiding inside.
