Steph Thompson, aka Steffaloo, is set to return with a new record, the all electronic Heart Beats and has just released the first single from it, 'Eyes For You'. It's definitely a departure from her poignantly spare lo-fi guitar based album from last year, Would You Stay. This time, rather than lending her vocals to others in their electronic endeavours, she has reversed the trend and enlisted artists to hers. Again collaborating with Chrome Sparks (Jeremy Malvin), "Eyes For You" is arguably the best track they've done together with its downbeat beginning metamorphising into a measured dance pop gem. Thompson penchant for musical collaboration characterises Heart Beats with each of the 12 all electronic tracks being collaborative works featuring the likes of Bristol producer Stumbleine and Luxembourg based wiz Sun Glitters. Heart Beats will be out through Mush Records on October 29. Much anticipated. - Indie 30 |
