Mark Mitchell, releases one of the best Morr Music albums of the year... except its not on Morr Music. In fact, it's on the most unlikely label for something like this: Mush, home of cLOUDDEAD, Neutrino, and Boom Bip. So what's this indie-rock-onna-indie-hop record sound like? Well, Styrofoam and Dntel, in short. In long, sugary harmony wrapped up in memories of childhood with a dash of the old bleep-bleep. A formula that's getting a little old, really, but Mitchell manages to pull it off. The album ends on a strongpoint, too, a trend that seems to be coming back lately. Rather than blowing it all in the first few tracks or having a strong midpoint, Mitchell's placed the poppiest of the bunch at the end - "Do You Know That Love Can End?" - leaving you humming along to the Casio-n-dream-pop sounds that dominate this record. A good way to end a record, and a good record in all. - Indie Radio |
