MH-026 cLOUDDEAD - Dead Dogs Two  Boards Of Canada team up with cLOUDDEAD for the latest release from Mush's left-leaning trio. Taken from their second full-length release, Ten, cLOUDDEAD's original mix of "Dead Dogs Two" finds the group in top form, as an infectious melody, live bass, and signature drum programming from odd nosdam encompass vocals from Doseone and why?. The bonus cut, "Mulholland Instrumental" comes from the same sessions that spawned parts of their new album, and finds cLOUDDEAD revisiting the sweeping pads and ambient drones of their debut. Starting with the vocals from the original, Boards Of Canada create a new backing track of epic strings and analog keyboards with an absolutely pitch-perfect ending. |

| 2001 model cLOUDDEAD: muddy, looped, often-pretty instrumentals, shambling unpredictable structures plus vox. 2004 model: High fidelity! Songs! Shocked? Yes. At least mildly. "Dead Dogs Two" is a catchy pop song. Vocal harmonies, verses, choruses. I never expected to be using these terms in relation to a cLOUDDEAD track, but they're definitely applicable. Little twinkly sounds, fast crisp two-step beat, counter-punctual bass throbs and the closest thing to rapping here, swiftly followed by another round of the chorus. - Independent Voice |
