Plastic Soul Redux is the Mush debut from Japanese producer Takuma Hosokawa under the name Avec Avec. Late in 2011, before signing with Mush, Avec Avec released the Plastic Soul EP as a free internet download. It included two of the four tracks on Plastic Soul Redux and a bootleg mix of a song from a Japanese game show. Now reworked into a proper release, Plastic Soul Redux drops the bootleg mix and adds two additional original tracks. Combining a love for the electro-funk leanings of much of 1980's pop with modern electronic production techniques, the EP is a blast of infectious hooks, fine-tuned synth work, sub rattling stab bass, and chopped drums that sounds like Cornelius being remixed by The Glitch Mob. Plastic Soul Redux, along with a smattering of remixes and compilation tracks completed during Takuma Hosokawa's first year as Avec Avec have already established the producer's unique voice.
