It’s as if early Chemical Brothers had gone chill-wave. - CMJ / Here's one for the fans of all that's chilled in the electro freezer after its been chopped and screwed good and hard. - Impose / You know how James Blake would have sounded if you'd combined the electronic dance of his CMYK EP with all of the feeling he had on his debut album? Well, think of that, and then chop and screw it. - Prefix |

It's funny how quickly something can go from disjointing to pleasurable, one of my favorite journeys in following music is the journey from "what the Fuck?" to "Oh Fuck yes!". I recently took this journey with the wildly awesome EP Imbue Up by noted neerdowells and snake oil salesmen Pressed And. I was introduced to these knob polishers with their video for Parties, and instantly fell in love with both the song and the lass showing off her gams. What a sweet pair of gams they were. However when I got the album, I let it run through once while I was kind of distracted and thought to myself, "What the Fuck?" and never revisited it. I was thrown by the glitchy off kilter nature of the bleeps and vworps, and the echo laden vocals over odd time signatures. Something felt off, but truth be told I was three weeks into a detox diet and my nipples were starting to look like well cooked pepperoni rounds, so who the Fuck knows where my head was. It wasn't until I spent some time with the Imbue Up Visual EP project that I understood what the Fuck was going on. I was sucked into the glowing warmth, offered some sort of warmed mead and given a sweet hand job by spirit animal of Pressed And*. It was a glorious listen, a gift to both the conscious and subconscious. It created holes in my emotions and then filled them with nougat and Swiss chocolate making the ache both delicious and chewy. Pressed And know how to work the buttons of your heart and pull the short hairs around your junk to give you just the right mix of pleasure and pain. With tracks like Etching, Blue Noun, Parties and Raid they manage to capture some grand cosmic truth that resonates in the back of your throat and muffles the world around you allowing your thoughts to exist and communicate with the great unknown. *The Pressed And spirit animal is a sensual Asian Panda cub named Naomi Velveteen who wears nothing but Juicy Couture. There is something magical happening on Imbue Up, I can't necessarily put a finger on it but I think you know it when you feel it. It transports you into your better self and makes the opposite sex look at you while biting their knuckle and going "Mmmm". - SYFFAL |
