Low key electro, bedroom pop with a rap element. There are the requisite synths, ambient noises, there are the warped vocals, drum machines, some elements of eastern European music, a touch of psychedelia, all blending with nicely with the MC’s R&B styled rap verse.
Jealov are a collective of Belgian electro musicians, but that’s about all they’re willing to give up. They’re anchored by a three member core of childhood mates – Yann-Alex Janssens, Rick Roels, and Mathieu Seynaeve, then from what I can gather, there’s a more or less revolving door of friends who sit in on the collective for jam/studio sessions.
The group was formed during a surfing vacation (I didn’t know Belgium even had surfing) when childhood friends Yann and Mathieu became friends with Roels and some of the group’s other wayward members while attending university. In addition to writing music, they began DJing, taking pictures, and making videos; which explains the groups aesthetic. - In Your Speakers |
