|MH-238 Clue To Kalo - One Way, It's Every Way
Written and recorded in Adelaide, Australia during a two-year period of great personal change, and finished on a four-month adventure in Brooklyn, USA, One Way, It's Every Way is Mark Mitchell's second record as Clue To Kalo. Designed as a musical palindrome, the album is an unabashedly ambitious, surprisingly celebratory meditation on death. Instrumental contributions from old and new friends, as well as elements of classic folk, lo-fi rock, and bedroom electronica, are all taken out of context and remade as a ten track set thick with overloaded melodies, multi-part harmonies, and literate language. One Way, It's Every Way is a stunning development for Clue To Kalo both musically and lyrically.

|Front man and mastermind of Clue to Kalo Mark Mitchell has been getting a lot of attention lately. With the new release and several awards already notched in his belt, this Australian native seems to be at the brink of success here in the States. Originally, Mitchell's work was put out under the name Super Science, but as rumor has it, his musical direction changed after meeting underground hip-hop superheroes Anticon around 2000. Ever since, sampled loops and drumbeats have become a mainstay of his work. The new album, the second release recorded under the Kalo moniker, is filled with a mixture of sound sranging from new laptop blip-pop to late sixties electrified folk. The key to the mix is the juxtaposition of the vocals and the music. The vocals, which are seemingly always introspective, personal and dark, cut against instrumentation that feels hopeful and optimistic. The blend seems to suit Mitchell and friends; prgrammed beats and loops come together with live instrumentation and vocals to create a time and place of their own. Currently touring in Australia, Clue to Kalo the band is soon headed to the States, where if the history of the band is an example, they're sure to be well received. - The Hub
