MH-295 Ennui - Telepathic Beat  Telepathic Beat is Ennui's debut for Mush and the album that should expose a wide audience to Jim Doutrich's brand of infectious synth-pop. The playfully yearning vocals, syncopated synth patterns, and distorted Euro-dance grooves bring to mind both the 80s New Wave pop explosion and the youthful nostalgia of recent releases by glo-fi re-originators. Though there is no shortage of hooks, "Circles", "Summer Of Love", and "Telepathic Beat" stand out in style and substance as roller-beats immersed in a bath of shimmering neo-shoegaze create a widescreen backdrop to act as home for brain-embedding melodies and subtly haunting lyrics. With its sun-drenched feel, the album plays as a soundtrack to a summer balancing a narcotic life in clubs with the possibilities that await when you skip work and head to the beach. Telepathic Beat is destined to be the album to reach for when you don't want to admit to yourself that summer is over. |

| Today’s free download comes all the way from that there Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and this track is so lovely it really will just bring the good-time memories of the sun, sea and sand. What was once a four-piece band has now been dwindled down to one, and his name is Jim Doutrich. Summer Of Love is taken his upcoming album Telepathic Beat. Since going solo he’s apparently moving more toward “a synth-wave production style”, recording with a mix of vintage and modern synths. And by Jove it is a summery tune, complete with pan pipes samples, dotty synths and airy vibes – you can practically feel the sea breeze from here. - BBC |
