Art Rap After Party, the follow-up companion EP to Open Mike Eagle's Unapologetic Art Rap long player is an almost true story of a long night out (and the morning after repentance) told A Christmas Carol-style, with the rapper acting as your Ghost of After Parties Past. "Everybody's Birthday" details the humble beginnings of a long Los Angeles night; "Haircut" sees Mike chatting up the room; "Someplace Quiet" dredges up all-too-familiar memories of trying to get a new acquaintance to the 21st century's equivalent of Make Out Point; and "Four Years Old" ends with the MC inebriated to the point of slurring as he swills through a list of everything he has had to drink that night. The concept EP's morning after song, "Last Night" can best be summed-up by the line "Last night I said a whole bunch of dumb shit" - and who can't relate to that. Welcome to your life, young party people. Now to all a good night.
