Their debut full-length release, Pigments Drift Down To The Brook, with it's expansive, chamber-music approach to song structure and production, hints at modern risk-takers Architecture In Helsinki and The Arcade Fire. Alternating between sweet and majestic, the combination of male and female vocals, sung both in Japanese accented English, is an aural wonder. Keyboards and wind instruments lay on top of a bed of dream-rock guitar, bass, and drums, creating moments of 60’s guitar pop, Neu inspired repetition, and modern electronics, all within the same expansive track. Pigments Drift Down To The Brook marks 4 Bonjour's Parties as a band that deserves close attention. |

Pigments Drift Down To The Brook "is the best Japanese album, which I have already heard this year. I must say, however bijzeggen, even the only one. 4 Bonjour Parties is a zevenkoppig ensemble from Tokyo. They play dreamy pop, in which the use of typical, for Japan anyway, senior girls vote will be combined with those of Barry White male clones. Their strength lies in the use of a lot of different, sometimes very original instruments. Flute, accordion, cello, vibraphone, chimes, trombone or trumpet they use it all. All these instruments combined with the more pop doordeweekse instruments sound gives them the additional allure of artistiekerige chamber. Their way of playing that bad lounge jazz. The compositions are clever and down to the details. This studied approach makes the picture technically perfect cross each other. Only it is fun and the passion underway somewhere in the studio lost. Live would have to crash into. Only I fear that this debut just too little convincing to do with tapping into Europe.Competition is therefore moordend. That they still need to know in Japan. - Soundslike |
