Bibio Delivers New LP, Vignetting The Compost, Plus An EP | 03/2008 | Mush Records' Black Country bard, Bibio, has completed work on his third full-length effort, Vignetting The Compost. The album will feel familiar to fans of Bibio's earlier work with its use of intricate layers of guitar work and delicious chunks of analog tape noise. Bibio continues to add vocals to his songs on this album, as he did on previous release Hand Cranked, and the effect is nothing short of stunning. In addition to the new full-length, Bibio has created a new EP entitled Ovals And Emeralds. Taking a different approach from his full-lengths, the overall sound on Ovals And Emeralds has a sonic reminiscence of old carnival and circus instruments. One imagines pump organs, calliopes, and player pianos which are achieved by manipulating his own array of instrumentation including flutes, recorders, pianos, a cavaquinho as well as unrecognizable tape loop collages, all treated in the signature Bibio method, giving them an etherial and often eerie quality. Both releases will be available in the middle of 2008. |
