Eliot Lipp On Gear On TV On The Web07/2008Eliot Lipp took a camera crew from XLR8R down into his Manhattan basement studio and on a jaunt to the record store to show off the tons of analog gear he uses to record and his music buying proclivities. XLR8R edited down the footage into a piece entitled "Eliot Lipp Sometimes Goes Outside" for XLR8R TV.
Head Like A Kite Internet Press07/2008The Head Like A Kite press push continues with three internet items. There is an interview on Australian music-webzine Wireless Bollinger, a short profile at the end of a Paper Thin Walls Single File review and a feature on Head Like A Kite and Their Is Loud Laughter Everywhere on NeuFutur Magazine. In a semi-press related note, "No Ordinary Caveman" was also the Song Of The Day on KEXP for July 4th.

Lymbyc Systym Best New Band From Arizona07/2008It's not often that you'll hear Lymbyc Systym and Stevie Nicks in one sentence together. However, The Boston Phoenix and it's readers and writers have compiled their Best Bands from all 50 states, naming a Best All-Time Band, Best All-Time Solo Artist, and Best New Band from all 50 states. Arizona's best band, all-time, was the Sun City Girls, best all-time solo act was Stevie Nicks, and the new best band from Arizona was Lymbyc Systym! Congratulations fellas, and we won't mention any recent relocations.
New Boy In Static Video07/2008Boy In Static has teamed up with House Of Yes to create a video for the track "First Love" from his Mush Records debut, Violet. Staying in the vein of alternative rock videos that inspired his previous clip for "Where It Ends," the video captures Boy In Static's music perfectly.

In case you missed it, blogger Cheryl Waters from The Stranger posted a great write-up about the show and the bands, often off-kilter, performance in Head Like A Kite... In Bathrobes.

Bet You Can't Wu-Tang Like Blue Sky Black Death04/2008Blue Sky Black Death have completed the next release in Mush's ever expanding 7-inch singles collection the two tracks, "Rebel To The Grain" and "Slapbox With Jesus" are long reworkings of original Wu-Tang source material. Layering the funk and soul samples that defined the early Shaolin sound, Blue Sky Black Death create two pieces that blur the line between production and DJ mix, and make it impossible not to bob your head. Look for the single in Fall of 2008.

Caural Sound Piece Gets Love From Urb03/2008Genre bending, sound collagist Caural recently put together a sound piece dedicated to hip-hop and exploration of the use of the word "yo"_ as a stylistic signifier. Urb reviewed the finished product and found that it was an exemplary piece of music.

Clue To Kalo Returns To The United States03/2008After a productive year spent working on a new album and incorporating a new member into the band, Adelaide's Clue To Kalo will be returning to the United States to play a series of live shows in support of the upcoming Mush release, Lily Perdida. Before hitting the road there will be some warm up shows in LA. 

 
Bibio Delivers New LP, Vignetting The Compost, Plus An EP03/2008Mush Records' Black Country bard, Bibio, has completed work on his third full-length effort, Vignetting The Compost. The album will feel familiar to fans of Bibio's earlier work with its use of intricate layers of guitar work and delicious chunks of analog tape noise. Bibio continues to add vocals to his songs on this album, as he did on previous release Hand Cranked, and the effect is nothing short of stunning. In addition to the new full-length, Bibio has created a new EP entitled Ovals And Emeralds. Taking a different approach from his full-lengths, the overall sound on Ovals And Emeralds has a sonic reminiscence of old carnival and circus instruments. One imagines pump organs, calliopes, and player pianos which are achieved by manipulating his own array of instrumentation including flutes, recorders, pianos, a cavaquinho as well as unrecognizable tape loop collages, all treated in the signature Bibio method, giving them an etherial and often eerie quality. Both releases will be available in the middle of 2008.

K-The-I??? Wraps Up Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow03/2008After two months of recording vocals, collecting beats from producer Thavius Beck, and putting together a stellar slate of guest MCs, K-The-I??? has finished up the follow-up full-length to Broken Love Letter, to be titled Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow. The album features verses from underground hip-hop luminaries High Priest, Busdriver, and Subtitle, as well as up-and-coming MCs including Scribble Jam 2007 winner Nocando, Urb Next 100 alum Vyle, and Galapagos4 standout Mestizo. The album will be released on Mush in the United States, and has been licensed for Europe and the UK by Big Dada.

Boy In Static Tour Media03/2008Boy In Static is home from his wonderful tour of the Northeastern United States with Rykodisk artists Freezepop. Busdriver Backed Up By Antimc Playing Langerado Festival03/2008Busdriver and Antimc are heading down to the Florida Everglades to play the 2008 Langerado Festival. They will performing in the Chickee Hut at 9:30pm on opening night. The Chickee Tent will also host the Walkmen, !!!, The National, Of Montreal, Built To Spill, and many more. Head Like A Kite Single02/2008The lead single from Head Like A Kite's Mush Records debut, "No Ordinary Caveman" will be released in Spring of 2008. Like all Mush singles, "No Ordinary Caveman" will look more like an EP release; it will feature the album version as well as a Nobody reworking and a Her Space Holiday cover of the title track.  In addition, Boom Bip takes a crack at reworking "Daydream Vacation," which features vocals from Asya of Smoosh, Antimc remixes the anthemic "Six Bags Of Confetti," and Daedelus gives "We Were So Entangled" the goth treatment. Look for the single to be available in Spring of 2008.

Head Like A Kite To Release Music On Mush Records02/2008Mush Records is proud to announce that we will be releasing There Is Loud Laughter Everywhere, the latest release from Head Like A Kite. After releasing 2006's Random Portraits Of The Home Movie (Pattern 25) to universal praise, Head Like A Kite mastermind Dave Einmo and touring partner Trent Moorman toured the US and Japan, and were featured on the MTV2 series, On The Rise. We've added Parts One, Two, and Three in a series of tour blogs they did for Seattle's Stranger, as well as a series of clips from the MTV2 series to check out.
