Corduroi is about re-imagining the past while reworking the present. Corduroi came into being in 2005, as Texas native Cody Wilson began playing with sampling live instruments through his computer's microphone to try to capture the nostalgic and fanciful feel of childhood. Everything he could get his hands on, including guitar, ukulele, glockenspiel, toy piano, accordion, and trumpet made the mix. He took the name Corduroi from his favorite childhood book, Corduroy The Bear as a symbol of that nostalgia. Once he moved to Austin, and started to draw influences from electronic producers such as Kraftwerk and more recently Flying Lotus, and add those influences to the mix, his music developed into how it sounds today. Smooth and catchy, yet lively and high-spirited, Corduroi’s sound draws inspiration from various genres and musical eras, distilling them into minimal electro-pop. There is an unmistakable magic in manipulating and reproducing music. Corduroi is all about the exploration of that magic.
