Some 12 years and 1200 drum kits later, Jel and his SP have only music to blame. Originally from Chicago, Jel has provided the beats for some of hip-hop's most hungry young heroes, and has wooed many an ear and critic. His first milestone came as co-conductor of the Future Sound Primitive release, Presage - The Outer Perimeter, and has been followed by standout work as a solo artist and with Themselves, Subtle, and 13 & God. His production has the raw energy of the best turntablism has to offer, combined with a subtlety not often found in electronic music; his work always generates a reaction. With ten seconds of sampling time and a vast collection of someone else's records, Jel speaks - a musician of the sampler and sampled music.
