"Strangers" is the single from Pottery Mill, the new album from California psych-pop experimentalist, Pregnant. The track, which also has a beautiful and crafty stop motion video, combines gorgeous looped instrumentation and strummed guitar over a stuttering beat that hiccups underneath Daniel Trudeau's distinctive vocals. The single is packaged with a wealth of bonus material including the album track "Crush On" in its video edit and a number of left-field remixes. Erik Wilson's take on "XO" and the Is And Of The reworking of "Strangers" sample bits of guitar, synth and other source material to create tracks that maintain an element of the quirky forward motion that pervades Pregnant's productions. Greg Fox completely dismantles "Crush On" and Jib Kidder transforms "Given" in ways that highlight the experimental nature of the original tracks without sounding anything like them. "Strangers" is a fearless package that both teases Pregnant's new album and highlights a group of uncompromising remixers.
