The ever hard to define Jealov return with Nyche EP, their latest collection of left-field R&B morphing strain of dubstep. Each of the five tracks are intricate beds of sonic abstraction that pile ideas on top of each other until the productions feel like they are about to buckle. The stuttering vocal samples, perfectly placed moments of silence, and mutant drum programming give nods to the production styles of Burial, Mount Kimbie and EP-era James Blake without loosing the melancholic, one-of-a kind sound that defined in their debut EP, Framework and their companion bootleg release, Translations. Jealov's Nyche EP is an off-center, floor-rattling and complicated collection of wobbly bass, thick synths and ambiguously danceable beats.
