| This started out on the creepiest note ever. A bunch of noise and some '80s-ish computer generated voice saying "This is The Magnificents" over and over again. It was about to recieve the file-under-G (garbage) treatment but the band quickly redeemed themselves and earned their name in the process. A unique blend of synth-laden garage rock that never steps off the overdrive pedal, this release is almost like Man Or Astro-Man realizing that a singer is dire to maintain listener interest. Imagine it as if the Hives listened to more the Cars and Falco than the tired soul-influenced garage they typify. It's like kitsch value and upbeat party music at the same time. - Modern Fix |
