Thavius Beck European Dates | 12/2009 | Thavius Beck will be travelling to Europe for a series of dates to mark the release of his latest LP Dialogue, which Big Dada has licensed for the European market. He will be sharing the stage with fellow Big Dada-ites Anti-Pop Consortium for the first leg of the tour, and then with French fellow-genre masher Debmaster for the tour dates in... well... France. |
Lymbyc Systym Wrap Up 2009 | 12/2009 | Lymbyc Systym's album Shutter Release was reviewed by the Skeleton Crew Quarterly on the ocassion of its release, and in time with the review, the SCQ profiled the brothers Bell, asking about what they saw as the nest music of 2009. Thavius Beck Dialogue Plays Two Low End Theories | 10/2009 | If you're in Los Angeles on October 7, make it down to the Low End Theory for a special show by Thavius Beck to celebrate the European music release of Dialogue on Big Dada. The US version will be released by Mush in January 2010. Then in early November, Thavius will again be featured at the Low End Theory, this time for the Novation Launchpad sponsored event. |

Deru Scores For Paris Opera Ballet | 10/2009 | Deru recently hooked up with Joby Talbot to score a eight-part musical compostion for a ballet by Wayne McGregor titled Genus. It is based on Charles Darwin's discovery of evolution and is being performed at the Paris Opera Ballet. To commemorate the project, they've hand-made 100 CDs that include all of the music. If you happen to be in Paris, the ballet will be performed in November, and if you're interested in the music, check out Deru's webstore. |

Thirsty Fish And Open Mike Eagle Sign To Mush Records | 08/2009 | Los Angeles trio Thirsty Fish have signed to Mush Records for the release of their next full-length. The three MCs - DumbFounDead, Psychosiz, and Open Mike Eagle - have been making a name for themselves at battles and clubs around the United States for some time, and are ready to hit the national stage running. Prior to the release of their full-length, Mush has also picked up Open Mike Eagle's solo record, Unapologetic Art Rap, for release. The album features OME's updated take on the hook-laden, melodic rap style that made LA Underground rap so intriguing in the past, over knocking production from some of LA's finest beatsmiths. Look for the Mike Eagle album early 2010, to be followed by the Thirsty Fish full-length. |
