I prefer to sample because I look at sampling equipment as instruments. I also play live instruments, so I understand the dynamics of both ways to make music. Samples are what attracted me to producing in the first place and also gave me a greater appreciation for live instrumentation. When you sample, there are a million different ways you can manipulate one sound. There are only so many different ways you can play it with a live instrument.

I believe that a musician should use any means possible to accomplish what he/she wants. If that includes using a sampler to add a string section or vocal snippet in a piece and then picking up a bass and laying down a riff, then more power and respect to them. This is what my entire new project is based on: using the best of both worlds and combining the two approaches to get that desired sound.
