MUSH RECORDS SHOWCASE

Erstwhile Londoner Neotropic is my gateway drug into this tour of atmospheric funk from the Mush label - I hesitate to say "electronic music," because her instrumentation and samples sound like the product of breathing humans in the outdoors. The artist's electronica career encompasses some of Ninja Tune's best releases, a bold remix of Low, and an eerie collaboration with Dosh at Minneapolis's Crazy Beast Studio (the tracks appear on her latest world-within-an-album, 'White Rabbits'). Out of similar sounds, Her Space Holiday make pop music that would fit on the 'Lost in Translation' soundtrack. Both acts share a loose affection for breakbeats with the more hip-hop-oriented headliner, Daedelus, and opener, Octavius.
