MUSH RECORDS TOUR Though you may not have heard of many of the musicians signed to Mush Records, it's only a matter of time before the underground imprint comes out on top. The label boasts a few well-known artists on it's impressive roster of radical acts, such as experimental rappers Doseone and Aesop Rock, but for the most part it remains relatively obscure. Originally a downtempo instrumental label, Mush is now on the cutting edge of progressive hip hop, cranking out everything from turntablist compositions to electronic jazz to indie rock influenced by hip hop. Tonight's showcase serves as a great introduction to Mush Records' up and coming stars, including cLOUDDEAD, Reaching Quiet, and Radioinactive, who perform with live bands. Boom Bip & Doseone work the turntables and laptops, and Baltimore's Labtekwon, who has recently come into the spotlight with the release of his acclaimed greatest-hits compilation, Song of the Sovereign, rocks the mike the old-school way. |
